However, the feature request under discussion bears… well… discussion.
There were suggestions for:
Limits to planets one has already established a base on
Limits for runs based on a function of the HQ level
My suggestion was originally 2x the HQ level (comment)
SLKLS suggestion of having it be a power function (level1.2) (comment)
SLKLS suggestion of 2 additional runs for every five levels (comment)
The power function is a more elegant approach, the staggered count may fit in better with existing HQ progression mechanics.
The thing is that while the original cause for this suggestion is not an issue, the unbounded run of goverment is still trivially exploitable (annoying players and adding another reason that the current political game mechanics lead to burnout of players who are engaging with them in good faith).
So, please, make it so that we don’t need to check every planet to determine if someone is trying to troll, annoy, or otherwise opportunistically take advantage of a planet where there is a population less interested in actively engaging in politics. Furthermore, as it appears that we are entering a period of less trust in various player factions - limiting where one needs to engage with politics of exploitive play styles and limiting where one needs to engage with the troll play style would help reduce potential burnout and dissatisfaction with game mechanics.
Point me at one “incredible thing” MUSK has done. I’ll wait.
On the other hand, I see the gateway projects as pretty incredible. And who was it who even now have been whining to me about them? The name escapes me, I think it started with M…
Because it’s a multiplayer game. Some people are interested in the governing aspect, and they’ve never done it before, and it’s currently almost impossible to participate in any form of government aspect of the game, there are a handful of people who run almost every single planet. There are many things to do in the game and players are attracted to different playstyles, but they are locked out of playing how they want but a handful of people. That’s all I have to say about it. You’re making me repeat myself over and over and over, and acting like I’m a troll when all I want is for players and corpos to have the ability to participate and play how they want.
To the actual point of this discussion: I am actually on the side of not limiting government. If people want to run, let them. If the objection is adding too much busy work for people, I have further opinions on that which are not relevant here.
I’m not saying we need to add busy work for government or anything like that, I’m just pointing to this discussion talking about making government more strict to keep certain people out.
And it was proven that it is right to do so by very recent actions.
A planet was taken over and locked down because a newer player got into parliament and was bribed so in the near future it is possible that only like 30 trusted people will run all bigger planets across the universe. Blame the ones abusing the trust and not the ones trying to keep the planets open to everyone. Though an update to the election system could help a bit.
And if you run somewhere you have to be prepared to actually do gov work when you get elected. And a new player doesn’t have the knowledge or logistical capacity to manage 50 planets or even only 10. And when you have no base on the planet you can’t fill the CoGC which is probably the biggest part of gov.
You all act like you know better than everyone and explain how you need experience to run planets you’re saving us all from trolls and bad actors. Behind it all though, you just don’t want to lose your poor elections. You all have an overwhelming need to tear down other people that play the game differently from you, or want to enjoy the game in a way you don’t like.
I was told to bug off, to go to a small planet to learn about governing. I went to a small planet and guess what? Shaitr and COSM showed up at the last minute and won. You all want everyone to play the game like you do, or they’re out, and inform everyone that they’ll never get to do anything except stare at economic screens because “we’re more experienced than you, so unfortunately only we get to play all the other stuff in the game like run planets, not you”. I’m just not going to pay for pro anymore, I won’t be able to do anything with pro anyways.
So you literally say politics is going to make game better and disliking a proposal for a way to update politics part of the game.
You have no ability to create a constructive suggestion or discussion on politics update, so you take your anger out on the existing post for your own disability on creative thinking, by going after those who can.
What?
I have visions for shipping and I have this post. I won’t say it’s a lot but it’s something at least.
Oh my god I got humiliated[1] by COSM[2] for tearing down all my production lines[3][4] in Dec 2025 and turned 100% shipping I’m so sad [5]
I understand what you’re attempting to say, but I think there’s a better way to play the game. And judging by the amount of people who agree with me, and the discord servers that were created in the last couple days to oppose the official servers because people are afraid they’re going to get banned, I think people are tired of being told how to play in a multiplayer game.
Why not think about why you would be banned in the first place? I don’t think if you’re just expressing different opinions would result in a ban. I expressed my thoughts on gateways, nothing happened, my thoughts on Ashland, nothing happened either. Give me an example of that one topic would ban you instantly, I don’t think such topics wouldn’t ban you if said on any other discord servers or just any social media.
Just one role doesn’t work in existing universe. There is a lack of regional wide government such as a system-wise government or a faction-wise government. That would end up requiring much more players to participate in politics part of the game and it’s a nightmare of bureaucracy.
For example just a quick estimate for number of players required to run governments under said proposal in Insitor region.
Insitor 7 seats:
Promitor
Avalon
Boucher
Insitor 5 seats:
Berthier
Nova Honshu
Those 5 plants need 31 unique players, that times 4 gives about 120 in all 4 factions. We’re not even considering smaller planet right now and already reached about 1/4 of daily online player count. And there’re tonnes more planets with 3 or 2 seats so I’d put a wild yet conservative guess at 300 players. This is straight out impractical.
