Dev stream on 18th Dec 2024 mentioned Cyclical Progression which suggests players achieved their goals may start again, similar to creating a new savegame/profile in other games. But they need to liquidate existing company, to me that feels too expensive from in-game economically point of view: contracts signed with other players, commodity supply chains formed upon/in relation to this company, logistical impacts with shipping partners. All of those would more or less affect the universe and there certainly would be a threshold that liquidating such a company would cause a crisis. Eventually preventing players choose to enjoy another fresh restart.
My idea is rather than liquidating, the company could transfer into a NPC company (or as an option alongside liquidating). This NPC company would use a recent period of the company’s economical data as present or database to continue operating. As it’s an NPC company, the game could simplify it’s internal logistics and maintenance, just overall production and consumption. In this way the player who previously owned the company doesn’t have to worry too much about all the impacts of liquidating, and their previous works would be preserved as well.
