Wanted to ask if it would be possible to clear me for the creation of an alt account that I would like to use to collect data on government/CoGC elections, PopR and PopI, motions, and other such government info.
This alt would have one or two screens that would be cycled between periodically in an automated manner inside a headless browser to collect the different types of data. Say, every 15 minutes. That data would be used for a small project I’m working on.
Wondering what the “““legality””” of this is or if it could get approved somehow.
But I think there shouldn’t be a problem implementing something like this without using another account as a helper of sort, you can keep the same account logged in on the separate machine where the headless browser runs using the session cookies extracted from the session or make some kind of mechanism to make you login every time to cookie expires and then use the new cookie .
Or even a script similar to Refined Prun that runs in live browser using Tampermonkey and extracts all the data somewhere where it can be used later..
Sounds like a very cool project you’re planning
Good luck! I’d be happy to test it later if you’re planning on releasing it to the public
Working with the FIO developers would likely be more productive and would also mean that you wouldn’t need an alt to do it since this data comes from everyone running the extension all the time.
You’ll note that things that are automated in any way tend to not be implemented (even in the Refined PrUn extension) and secondary accounts are against the TOS. FIO and Refined PrUn snoop on the traffic that is already sent to the user rather than initiating requests themselves or automating interaction with the server.
Well a couple of things. Firstly, CoGC votes are there because I implemented said feature a couple of weeks ago! Secondly I would like my own system to ensure I can get all the data in as near-real time as possible. I’m aware of FIO and make extensive use of it. I’m requesting permission precisely because I know it’s against the TOS.
He’s looking to essentially collect FIO data on a larger scale so there is not much the FIO devs can do.
Since the data is only snooped it may be stale.
My main question would be why not do this on your main account
I don’t know I thought an alt would be better to keep all this separate from my main account so it’s not confused with data from me doing things. Also, idk if the APEX can accommodate an account being open in multiple places?
