This is an idea that I think has been rolling around for a while. Originally brought up during the 2024 State of the Universe livestream (here) , the idea would be to have naming rights for stars and planets as a separate support item. Players could buy as many as they like and name an equivalent number. I (personally) would LOVE to name some planets I use frequently that don’t have names, but spending 169E to name ONE planet seems a bit much to me. This would (hopefully) be an easy way for the devs to provide a smaller support package that gives players a tangible reward, while also helping fill in the blank canvas of space.
To this end I’ve taken the liberty of “calculating” the cost for each of these perks. I’d be curious to see how both the community and devs reacts to these suggestions.
For planets: first unlocked in Star pack. Costs 169E. Part of that pack is PRO time (8mo personal + 6mo keys), as well as AirlineSime credits (250). Taking the most expensive route (buying every month of PRO individually), as well as combining the two parts of PRO, gets us 112E for all that PRO time. The AS credits are less significant: I used a price of 0.03E per credit, so only 10E additional. That leaves us a total of 122E. Subtracted from the original price, we get that all other perks cost 47E. What portion of that is just the planet is up for debate, though I personally wouldn’t pay much more than 10E for it.
Same method for the Galaxy pack. I’ll leave out the maths, but it comes to 100E for all other perks. This includes one planet as well as one system, but I think around 25-35E for the system seems reasonable. Again, discuss.
One final, tangentially related note. While I LOVE the “Gift PRO Time” ability as it stands, I think there’s a case to be made to allow buying gift keys of larger amounts, with the BASIC fallback, as their own product. I’d pay a little extra above normal time to have it sent automatically etc., and I think it would make another great fundraising “product” to give people.
