Plot Limit Issues

The current plot limit system feels pretty terrible.
A planet is either open or it’s locked down, and hundreds of plots over the cap.
Right now, I have 4 planets over the cap, and a new player can only get one of those.
I have based on Vallis, which I kinda want to get rid of because it’s a bit of a pain to supply, but I just kinda need to keep a base there because if I demolish it, I will never be able to build a Vallis base again.

I think there is a simple solution.
Have the first base a player creates while starting the game not count towards the plot limit.
This would mean planets would never go over their plot limit.
Planets would be able to hit their capacity, but when they do, you’d just be able to wait out an opening on that planet from players naturally leaving.

Years ago, we had something called the PCGamer wave that just (relatively) flooded the game. The current plot system (and POPI system to a lesser degree on full planets), just can’t support a massive influx. If a massive influencer were to recommend the game, where would all the new players build their second base?

Perhaps when the land quota is reached, those wishing to leave the planet can sell their land use rights to the planetary council. The council can choose to buy the land and acquire ownership, or not, allowing anyone to occupy it.

After acquiring ownership, the council can hold a weekly auction, with the highest bidder gaining full ownership of the land.

This facilitates land circulation, ensuring that users like you don’t lose their land and that it’s used by those who genuinely want and have the means. It also generates revenue for the council.
