Make CoGC Voting a Toggle

A small quality-of-life suggestion that popped into my head: make voting for CoGCs a toggle so players don’t have to click the same buttons once a week per base. E.g., if I vote for Agriculture, I automatically vote Agriculture in all future CoGC votes going forward unless I change it.

Tbh, same could go for gov voting to increase voting participation. Or politics would need to be madde interesting…

but it should require the user to be active in that period

I think this is generally a good idea, except once people go inactive, you’d never be able to change the COGC, even if you had the consent of everyone active on the planet. Personally, my only desire is to prevent the COGC from being canceled when ZERO people vote, which seems to happen once a month across my small planets.

One solution could be: If no votes cast, COGC retains the previously run program until a time in which a vote changes that logic.

However, this opens up COGC’s to hostile attacks because it would mean people would pay much less attention to the small COGC worlds with only one or two regular voters.

Even Starter planets currently have <20k CoGC weight on their program which is <10 single permit BMP bases…

Even less than that would basically mean nobody votes any more.

CoGC being open to “attack” seems like a pretty small problem compared to the current inertia problem. it’s already nearly impossible to change the CoGC of a planet. being able to lock in votes forever and never having to even look at it would make it even harder

I wouldn’t say “forever” as the player should at least be active in that week so that there aren’t inactive votes blocking restructuring.

A alternative would be to make CoGC run endlessly without a dedicated CoGC vote and make it a motion to switch it. This would create a topic to make politics about.
This would also reduce the amount of votes to about 25% of the current ones reducing voting fatigue and raising voting participation (at least that is my hope). The current CoGC form could still be kept for planets without ADM.
