Hey,
Im posting here about one issue I have for the game to bring it to the Devs attention. Its an issue I have sadly no fix to suggest at the moment but I still think its worth while to discuss.
For the past few months, I have been giving alot of loans to help new players get started. I see it as a great benefit to new players and it adds alot of depth to the games economy. This being said, as there is no way to enforce a broken contract or force any sort of forclosure, a recent string of broken contracts are forcing me to close down my lending.
I know this isnt the priority to fix but for the long term of the game. I feel like the current contract system is very much limiting the deals that players can make. With the talk of redoing the contracts to allow for multiple commodities, my hope for this post is for this subject to be added to the discussion when some energy is going to be put into improving the contract system.
ps. still very much enjoying the game and I have no intention to quit. But i am once again reminded that it is very much better to not be dependent on other players

Certainly, this is something that has been asked by the community for quite some time. I think the reason the devs haven’t “fixed” this is the same reason they haven’t “fixed” piracy. Partly that it isn’t a huge enough problem to have a big impact on the game and partly because it makes things a bit more interesting to have a little uncertainty and risk in the game… or maybe they just prefer to focus their limited time and energy on other things.
In any event, rather that wait for a change that may not happen, I try to find better ways to work with what we’ve got. For example - to mitigate risk when someone asks me for a loan - if it is for $15M I may tell them that I’ll give $5M now, then another $5M in a few weeks and so on. That way I’m more likely to get paid back at least partially and if they quit the game after a few weeks then they probably won’t receive the 2nd or 3rd $5M loan.
The other project I’m still hoping to get off the ground is doing loans as a corporation rather than as individual companies. That will mitigate risk, reduce workload of individual players, and expand the potential dynamic of loans and investment projects. I just need a few more interested parties to join with me to get this project started.
