Improvement: Cancel Flight Plan (Resolved)

It would be profoundly useful to be able to cancel a ship’s flight orders as long as the ship is in the “Taking Off” phase of a flight plan.

This functionality would be so useful, a “fuel tax” to execute this maneuver would be totally warranted. For example, maybe 10% of the flight plan’s total fuel cost still charges, because of “rapid afterburner calibration” or something. And ultimately, once a ship is outside of the Taking Off phase, flight plan cancellation would work as currently designed.

But having the ability to cancel within that narrow initial window would significantly improve the QOL of the game, imo.

Edit: Looks like if you cancel during the takeoff phase, the ship will cancel the flight plan in-orbit (and won’t, for example, start a jump). Thanks for the explanation, molp!

It is possible to abort a flight at any time. The current flight segment will be executed though. If the current flight segment is a charge segment, the jump will be executed as well.

Aborting during take-off will end the flight in orbit of a planet.

Ah wow, I must’ve only ever cancelled flight plans once takeoff had executed already. Been playing for well over a year and still learning things  Thanks for the reply!
