Dear licensees,

First of all, welcome to all the newcomers, and thanks a lot to all the veterans helping out when there are questions! Reading the in-game and Discord chat, I feel like many questions get asked over and over again. Some are answered in the introductory tutorials, but others (especially concerning common bugs and glitches) are not. I’d like to help out by compiling an FAQ, first here in the forum, but possibly also in the Handbook or even APEX itself.

To that end, I’d like to ask you guys: What do you feel like gets asked a lot? You don’t have to provide full questions and answers (although it’s appreciated), just naming some keywords and topics would already be a big help. At the top, I’d put some general suggestions like “Consult the Handbook”, “Reload your browser if something doesn’t work” and “If your question isn’t covered, ask x and y”.

I’ll start. If you have more suggestions for questions not covered by the tutorials, feel free to leave them below. Thanks a lot!

Q: Can the game be played on mobile?
A: There is no official mobile support, but it works on most devices except for dragging and dropping. (There is currently no other way to move wares between inventories.)

Q: I cannot click anything in any of the 3D windows.
A: This is a known bug. Please try turning on hardware acceleration in your browser or try a different browser for the moment. This bug usually disappears on its own after a while.

Q: There are no dots (stars) in the Universe Map, just lines.
A: This is a known bug. Please try a different browser for the moment. They usually reappear on their own after a while.

Q: I made a stupid mistake. Can I start over?
A: You can by using the COLIQ command. Make sure you only use it if your business is absolutely ruined as the command’s cooldown gets longer with each use. For example, starting on a planet without a Commodity Exchange is not the end of the world. (Please note that you can rebuild your company from scratch that way, but changing your username is not possible.)

Q: How can I build more ships?
A: Ship building is not implemented into the game yet, but it’s on the roadmap.

Q: I forgot which starter package I picked, how can I look it up?
A: Open your base overview (BS on the left) and then click “EXPERTS”. You’ll have experts available in the field you chose.

I’ll add that choosing a “wrong” package is not really important, because the two experts are the only bonus a package gives you, and getting two experts in any field is a fast process. So don’t restart your base only because you think you failed the startup package

Getting Started

  1. How do I build my base?

A common problem that people have is that they click a plot before they click construct base. The order is construct base then click a grey plot.

Market

  1. There is no ______ good available?

A)This is a MMO so the market relies on players to create and sell the good. If a good is not available maybe you just found a new business venture.

  1. I am getting price band error? What does that mean?

A)Price bands are a new feature designed to prevent cheating. It restricts buying and selling items above/below a certain amount.

  1. But there are offers listed outside of the price band?

A)The price bands are dynamic and move with the market. It is possible that that offer was created when that price was still within the band. (Consider contacting the seller and asking him to lower the price because it outside the band.)

Ships

  1. How do I move stuff onto my ship?

A)Open ship inventory ( by clicking the empty bar under cargo). Open the source inventory (can either be base or another ship). Drag and drop

  1. How do I move stuff from one ship to another?

A)See above answer to question above

  1. How do I refuel?

Other

  1. How do i get a company rating?

A)Company rating are only for pro users. They are updated in batches so if your pro user and still not rated give it some time.

  1. How do I reset my company?

A)Open a new buffer. Type COLIQ. (Note company resets have a cooldown so have a plan before you reset.

  1. Is the game real time?

A)Yes! 5 hours is 5 hours. Looking around the game, taking a walk, eating dinner, going to work, or obsessively making spreadsheets are all acceptable ways to pass the time.

  1. What is T1, T2, T3……

A)There is lingo guide in progress. But for now … T1 is short for tier one. The basic level pioneer buildings are called T1. Settler T2 … It can also refer to planets planets that require advanced materials to settle are called T2, T3, or T4, base on what level those advanced materials are on.

Bugs

  1. Drag and drop is not working?

A)Yes this is a known bug. Try a browser refresh. If that doesn’t work, make show sure hardware acceleration is enabled (chrome) or try a different browser. (Note: drag and drop does not work on mobile/touchscreen)

  1. I can’t see the universe map

A)This is a known bug. Try a browser refresh.

  1. I found a bug

I’d like to add to the answer about restarting. It’s very easy to know that you have wrecked your current company, but it’s hard to know how you wrecked it. New players should be encouraged to become accustomed to the interface and the environment prior to restarting. Veteren players will always be willing to engage in legitimate discussion around this, they should be encouraged to ask in chat before the restart.

There are kikely no opportunities open to new players which have not already been considered by Veteren players and we will be more than happy to share our thoughts.

Q: What’s the difference between PRO and TRIAL? How do I upgrade?
A: Companies without PRO license are unrated, which prevents them from trading on Local Markets as well as the Foreign Exchange, and from voting on Chamber of Global Commerce programs. During First Access, you can upgrade your license to PRO with a one-time payment by purchasing any support tier. After First Access, PRO months will cost a monthly subscription fee.

Q: Is there any way to trade wares privately?
A: Private trading is not in the game, but may be implemented in the future.

For the “Chicken or the egg” problem of manufacturers:
Q: I would like to build and operate an Prefab Plant MK2, MK3 etc. but I need these building for the prefabs needed for the housing of the higher level staff.
A: First build the Prefab Plant which only requires parts from the level below. It can operate on reduced efficiency with the lower level staff. Then use it to create parts for the housing to increase efficiency.
