I suggest adding some form of progress bar/information based on the expert creation system so players can quickly see how long is left until a new expert is created in a specific field.
I have prepared an example of what this could potentially look like as a rough idea, and I feel like this would be a small step in easing the new player struggle of grasping the UI. ^^
