CX listings that match the NPC order price won't sell

So, i was going to buy some BSE.NC1 and noticed this:

There are 7 orders for BSE that will never sell because the NPC order takes precedence. (From my understanding, the oldest order at a given price point is the first one to be filled)

And it got me thinking, shouldn’t the MMs be the the opposite? Not sure if this is even fixable, but i figured i would at least point it out.

You are correct, the rule is that for two orders at the same price, the older one gets filled first.

Not sure if we should change the rule for MMs. It would introduce a special case that is not easily understood just by looking at the order book.

Why not sell at 1649?

Except for the occasional mistake this is usually done intentionally so the goods don’t take up the player’s warehouse space or maybe just to announce to the world that more inventory exists.

If the goal is to prevent this from happening then I imagine the simplest solution would be for the devs to make (MM price)-1 the highest price that people can post.

I’ve thought many times about breaking the FIFO rule for mm’s. I’m indifferent on the matter, I leave my vote open to what the community would want.

I think Ogrebeef’s proposal, making the mm’s +1 point different (breaking the 3 sigfig rule) would be a very interesting compromise. This would also open up the ability to do arbitrage much more effectively using mm items… which has it’s own pro’s and cons.
