Heya, I want to make a corp with a specific corp code, and right now that code is taken by a company who’s user name is a string of numbers, a trial account, who I’d bet hasn’t been online in a long time. Is there any process that I might be able to petition to have this company code released for use? Also, I’m afraid to name the code to avoid having it be taken by someone else. Thanks!

We have an internal registry that makes sure entities cannot have the same name or code. Unfortunately we didn’t namespace it years ago when it was developed. So while it still prevents a company from naming itself “Antares Initiative” for example, which is probably a good idea, it also prevents to use the same code for a company and a corporation. We are aware that we should overhaul that registry, but there have always been more important things to do.
