From a permenant universe perspective it would be interesting to see new planets and sectors appear at the universe edge over time so the universe slowly expands giving people an incentive to create new hubs further out as the trade routes get longer. Also giving the opportunity for exploration to be a recurring feature as these systems appear.

Like after a certain amount of Survey Missions in a Outer Sector, a new Sector appears?
That new Sector then needs to be surveyed before resources are known?

yes please!

Lots of interesting idea’s presented a couple that caught my attention were to do with Permits

Permits needing a plot, so 3 permits on planet needs 3 plots. I like this idea

The permits gaining area 500/750/1000 as you go out further great idea, i would be FAR more tempted to go out into the 1k zone to make a more efficient base at the cost of fuel.

I agree with FTL being to cheap compared to STL travel. my only though on this is next universe ships have STL/FTL and JMP drives
STL/FTL is like current but JMP can skip entire systems at a much higher cost then FTL to get there but at a much reduced time frame.

So the current map i took a look at OT-627a to BS-987s (top of map to the bottom)
roughly 51 jumps i think slowest pace is 9d 9h and fastest is 6d 6h

Using the starter ship changed to large fuel tanks.
fastest flight is 950 SF and 1972 FF, or ~38k in fuel (13/u)
JMP would offer that flight at 1/2 the time for 2.25x the cost or 3D 3h for 86k
or some derivative therein.

FYI - if you have a fast ship, put extra fuel in your cargo hold, and break the trip up into three segments (i.e. fly 1/3 of the way, refill tank, fly another 1/3,…) ot-627 to bs-987 can be done in less than 1 day. Of course, doing that uses an extra 50k worth of FF.

Yeah but thats a non standard arrangement that most will not use to move cargo, nor is it moving LCB or WCB volumes of cargo.

I do get what your saying though for fast travel with little to no cargo

Something to consider as more trade hubs emerge and CX’s are built is the problem of CX bleed for profit. Hubar suffers badly from this every time Moria prices spike people pop over to the Hubar exchange pickup the now cheaper resources and leave the struggling CX hub with nothing to sell while they run back to Moria to sell the goods for dirty amounts of profit.

Another idea on updates to the FLT engines is to assign a jump range before it has to recharge.

So if the FLT engine has a range of 9 parsec then it can travel that far along the FLT route before stopping to recharge whether that is a single 9 parsec jump or a combination of smaller jumps (3+3+3 parsec for example) allowing it the option to spend less time charging on short leg routes.

The jump range would not limit the distance a ship can travel through FLT as it would always be able to reach the next system but trips over it’s range would have a penalty either in slower travel time or additional recharge time.

Having a range would reduce the number of recharge cycles due to short FLT distances allowing more efficent travel the as high end FLT engines would have a greater range allowing them to move the longer distances to the RIM faster as they can travel further between recharge cycles.
