Calculation Transparency

This is related, but not the same topic as Flight Speed Calculation. That post (which I also made) is talking about the community filling in values and equations for my latest spreadsheet. I’ve gotten a response to that post allowing me to add ship volume. This post is asking the developers to be more transparent about how certain values are calculated, like how many FTL emitters are needed, why the mass of a cargo bay depends on the fuel tanks and how the speed of ships (both STL and FTL) are calculated.

Hello, I’m making a spreadsheet to help people manage ship building/upgrading, but I’ve run into a problem. Everyone I’ve asked don’t know how to get the number of FTL emitters of each size based on the other components of the ship, FTL speed is not as bad a mystery, but still hard and STL Acceleration doesn’t match up with Earth Gravity and G-Factor. The problem is that the developers (who I hope are reading this, otherwise making this post would be mostly pointless) are being very opaque about the calculations of the ship properties. I’m very sure that there are other parts of the game that have the same problem. I’m not asking you to go full open source, but at least show us how exactly these values are calculated. The game is really good without this problem fixed, so I don’t care that much about the result. It would still make the game better though, which is why I’m asking. I hope the community supports me in the replies.
