Selective targetting of individuals and/or corporations

I read that conversation as it happened. I stated specifics and context. Claiming something is out of context but not providing further context isn’t advancing the conversation.

You will not have that luck boy. Don’t put words on my mouth.

My dude, you said it less than 4h ago

From the point of view of the person asking the question we looked like a bunch of imbeciles. I literally apologized to that player because the people involved in that conversation were just bickering for the sake of bickering. And by the end of it was told her that’s it’s better off not to even worry about it… and as an experienced player me and QSBC took that as yeah better off not even trying because one your too dumb and two you’ll never get the vote anyways. Someone go find the actual chat. He said something on the lines of “it’s too complicated for you to understand” or something of that nature.

If you or any other newer player wants to find out more about governing, there are plenty of community resources to give you a leg up understanding it. But I’d generally recommend not to get into government if you aren’t sure, because screwing it up can have real (in-game) consequences

There is nothing unreasonable about what Schaitr said here. Schaitr fairly clearly provides encouragement to the new player to learn (i.e., seek out the community resources) and also cautions why it is mid/end-game material not suitable for new players (i.e., it can mess up planetary/population mechanics).

On the other hand…

Whats this payout to Governor? Is the salary?

Worse, they can move money in and out of each others pockets at will! @emiraria

A new player asked something about the governing mechanics. Instead of explaining the obvious, clear, and plain explanation that such a mechanism is used to compensate people for paying for planetary infrastructure, you instead allude to corruption without providing context, specifics, or evidence. This sort of behaviour is much more discouraging to new players as Lyhroi pointed out:

why is it, that new players that ask about something always need to get fed the extreme and ultra rare examples, but not the answer to how it is 99% of the time?

Well I blame Schaitr for this…how dare he give reasoned and neutral advice?!?

I just want to say for when any dev or mod review this that this is a perfect representation of what lead to AGR being banned from all these places.

While the initial premise might be reasonable the tone of the exchanges rapidly devolve to this which in turns kills any productive exchanges

Can I also point to MUSK member Manuxd29 and their recent tirade in the IRC channel? Resorting to homophobia and slurs…

I’m tired flagging Rinoic and Shrewdsun like “Inappropiate” or “offtopic”. Guys if you are bored, go anywhere else and do your things. Leave this clean for a serious constructicve conversation. Please. I beg you. I’m tired of this.

So don’t bring up things that go against your narrative? Right…

It’s really so easy here Rinoic, and although I firmly believe you need a ban to behave, I’ll explain to you. Do you have something to say about how could we stop this non-sense? How could we moderate chats better? How could we remake the servers or make and fulfill clearer rules? If your point is that I am lying or I am an ill player, then leave now and others will come with more constructive ideas I hope. Because the only thing you do here is trashtalking.

So for one. This does not give the best context. Her question did in fact get answered. Me bringing up a corrupt thing (that actually happened) is sarcastic in nature and isn’t malicious in nature. For two. In that situation it felt very disingenuous and dismissive. If I am wrong about that then I will no longer bring this situation up as an example. As a show of hands how many people that were there for this felt like this was disingenuous and trying to sway her away from politics all together :raising_hands:t3:

I think if there was any failure of moderation, its that you were left to insult the community uninterrupted for so long. Its easy to play victim once youve antagonize everyone but I encourage you to reflect inward.

The above is a good example of you going back and forth between throwing insult then switching back to trying to sound reasonable when you think its going to win you some sympathy points

Shrewdsun that is not an insult to you. That is how you organize words around yourself, to legitimate what you are saying. It is called “false consensus”, and I feel like you are using it recurrently too much for your arguments. I have my people and you have yours, but I am not saying “we think you’re a corrupt and a bad banker” to express our ideas. That “we” is very selective and false, so that it’s constantly needed to clarify who are you referring form.

Anyway, again (x100), let’s get BACK to the topic. I won’t answer again. Too much baits. At this point I think these people are not willing to say anything constructive and they’re just making noise for free on the Question.

What I said IS on topic. You claim we harass MUSK, I’m showing an example of yet another MUSK member behaving like you.

Everything here is on topic. You complained about being banned in most server as selective persecution. People are trying to show what the cause is but I guess this is not your goal from this conversation and you rather have it agree with you

This attempt to muddy the waters of the discussion only reinforces my initial premise: these players are using out-of-game tactics to harm the community and constantly applying bias to the rules to benefit or disadvantage those they consider friends or enemies. There’s nothing more to it. From within the community, there’s little that can be done to fix this, as has already been demonstrated here today.

Again, you claiming context but then not providing the context is nonsensical. What nuance did the rest of us miss? What was EmirAria trying to ask if their words as typed out were not earnest? What is being implied that you see that others do not and, more importantly, how is it being implied?

EmirAria asked a question. You provided a sarcastic answer. Schaitr (and other people) provided an earnest one when read literally. What more context is needed?

Furthermore, if you’re being sarcastic and therefore are not saying gov payouts are about corruption, then you’re effectively in agreement with Schaitr when he and everybody else said:

07/06 09:36 AM
[PG] --SCHAITR–
@EmirAria, the payout is for the last 2 rounds of CoGC (for your 25% agri bonuses), and a little pop upkeep in the PAR. Each CoGC costs around 1.9M+, so that adds up to the amount in the payout

Which, again, goes back to Lyhroi’s point where your sarcastic behaviour is poisoning the experience of new players asking questions about the game.

There’s no need to take a vote. The truth is in the chat logs. People perception of such can be wrong. But if such is the case, they can be disregard for the literal text.

Everything we do is intoxicating the experience of new players. Everything you do is not intoxicating the experience of the new players.

I can say that to. It’s only a “not” difference. Easy.

Shrewdsun quoted the literal community guidelines, see point 1 of Community Guidelines . If you think the Community Guidelines are a “false consensus”, then why you participate in this community is baffling.

Regardless, it seems you have a basic misunderstanding of how communities and societies operate. You acted with hostility; other people react to it. No one has a right to start conflict without consequences; everyone has a right to call out poor behaviour. You have instigated the majority of conflicts; other people are within their rights to reject you and protect the social norm. Rejecting and shunning poor behaviour is a basis for human social self-regulation from legal jurisprudence to gossiping at lunch time.

We are not selectively targeting you or your corp, we are targeting your behaviour which you can choose to change accordingly.

Everything we do is intoxicating the experience of new players. Everything you do is not intoxicating the experience of the new players.

I can say that to. It’s only a “not” difference. Easy.

Except what you said is incorrect and there is in fact a difference.

Player A asked a question about governance.

Player B responded with sarcasm about corruption.

Player C responded with an explanation of the game mechanics.

B and C are not the same. B poisons the community. C does not.
